Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By installing BeBrief or accessing bebrief.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are acting on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

2. The service

BeBrief is a self-hosted knowledge assistant that indexes Slack and Confluence content and provides permission-aware semantic search via a Slack bot and web admin interface. The software is provided as a Slack application and associated backend services.

3. Free trial

BeBrief offers a 14-day free trial with full feature access, limited to 10 seats. At the end of the trial period, the service will pause. Your indexed data will be preserved for 30 days. No credit card is required for the trial. We may adjust trial terms with notice.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• — Use BeBrief to circumvent access controls or gain unauthorized access to documents
• — Attempt to extract or reconstruct documents that your ACL does not permit
• — Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the BeBrief software for malicious purposes
• — Use BeBrief to process data in violation of applicable laws, including data protection regulations
• — Resell or sublicense BeBrief without written authorization

5. Your data

You retain ownership of all content indexed by BeBrief. Your data is stored on BeBrief-managed infrastructure and is never shared with or processed by third-party cloud or AI providers. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of BeBrief complies with applicable data protection laws and your agreements with Slack and Atlassian.

6. Connector credentials

OAuth tokens and API credentials for Slack and Confluence connectors are encrypted at rest and stored on BeBrief-managed secure infrastructure. BeBrief is responsible for the security of the managed infrastructure layer.

7. Intellectual property

BeBrief software, branding, and documentation are proprietary to BeBrief. The underlying infrastructure is built on open source components, each subject to their respective licenses. Use of BeBrief does not transfer any intellectual property rights to you.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

BeBrief is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that answers generated by the local LLM will be accurate. You are responsible for validating information obtained from BeBrief before relying on it for business decisions.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BeBrief and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use or inability to use the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amounts paid by you in the 3 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may terminate your use at any time by removing BeBrief from your Slack workspace and deleting your tenant. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms with or without notice. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered admin users at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Disputes shall be resolved in good faith. If resolution is not possible, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration.
